Heat pump problems we fix
- Not heating like it used to the house is cool even though the system runs.
- Not cooling in summer
- Heavy ice on the outdoor unit that doesn’t clear some frost in winter is normal; a block of ice that keeps building isn’t.
- Backup or auxiliary heat seems to run all the time
- Stuck in one mode it won’t switch between heating and cooling.
- The outdoor unit isn’t running while the indoor fan is.
- Loud or new noises from the outdoor unit.
- A breaker trips when it starts. Don’t keep resetting it; call us.

Good to know
Defrost is normal. In cold weather a heat pump runs short defrost cycles, and you may see a little steam from the outdoor unit. That’s expected.
Ice that keeps building isn’t. Turn the system off at the thermostat and call. Don’t chip at the ice.
Refrigerant and high-voltage work are for trained technicians only.
